Ksenia Bashmet

Ksenia Bashmet — Berliner Festwoche • International Music Festival

Born in 1980 in Moscow, Ksenia graduated from the Gnessins’ Special Music School (prof. Elena Efrussi, Tatiana Zelikman) and from the Moscow State Conservatory, where her teacher was professor Lev Naumov. Also she made two postgraduate courses there: “chamber music” with professor Tigran Alikhanov and “accompaniment” with professor Irina Kirillova.

She has won many prizes and awards, including a diploma at the International festival “Virtuosi 2000”, 3rd prize in the “1st Taneev international chamber music competition” (Kaluga, 2002), 2nd prize in the 18th international chamber music competition ( Caltanissetta, 2003), Youth “Triumph” award (Moscow, 2004), Premio Galileo-2000 “pentagramma d’oro” (Florence, 2005), Special Prizes on International Viola Competition of Yuri Bashmet: “Best accompainist” (2010) and “For outstanding musical support” (2013)

She has appeared at many international festivals, including Verbier (Switzerland), Tanglewood (USA), Elba Island (Italy), “December Nights” (Moscow), “Homecoming” (Moscow), “Ars Longa”(Moscow), “Chamber Music Connects the World” (Kronberg, Germany), “Lionel Tertis International Viola Festival and Competition” (Isle of Man)

As a soloist she has appeared throughout Europe, the USA, Japan, Israel, at venues such as New Tokyo Opera City Hall, the Vienna Musikverein, Tonhalle, Beethoven Halle and the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.

  • Bach – Concerto in D minor BWV1052,
  • Schnittke – Concerto for piano and strings
  • Shostakovitch – Concerto №1 for piano trumpet and orchestra (Quartz, 2008)
  • Michael Nyman “Piano Collection” (Quartz, 2009) wich was chosen as a “CD of the week” on english Classic FM
